Sometimes small daily attitudes are the ones which, in the long run, can change our life.
Here are some suggestions:
1. Don’t worry (too much)
Constantly thinking about what might happen takes away your vitality and energy. There is no point in torturing yourself with anxieties and fears about things that, in all likelihood, will never happen. You have to train your mind to reject those thoughts whenever they arise, thereby re-educating it to think positively.
How? By focusing your attention on what makes you feel good, energizes you, makes you smile and ignoring everything else.
You have to control your thoughts, not the other way around.
2. Forgive yourself
Mistakes are necessary not to make them again. Thus if you want to live peacefully you must learn to forgive your weaknesses. You are not perfect. You have probably made a mistake in life, but now you are a different person; you grew up and understood what is right and what is not.
So, go ahead! Take that memory, put it mentally on a piece of paper and imagine setting it on fire… and then try to laugh about it as much as you can.
“Laughing at your own mistake can lengthen your life” (William Shakespeare)
3. Learn not to feel hurt
Don’t let your peace of mind depend on others! Giving people a chance to affect your mood is the biggest mistake you can do.
Not everyone agrees with your choices and not everyone is truly happy for your success.
So when you receive a negative comment, remember that:
- you don’t have to please everyone;
- not everyone is sincere;
- you have the right (and the duty) not to care.
4. “Look at evil and evil sticks to you”
Don’t overwhelm your brain with bad news! Information is okay, but your interest in what’s going on in the world doesn’t have to become obsessive.
If you do nothing but read the news and look at pictures of disasters, you weaken your life energy. For the same reason, stay away from people who only ever talk about misfortune (and also from energy vampires).
Your brain is not a garbage can.
5. Heal your spirit
Taking care of your body is essential, but remember that you are much more than what you see in the mirror. You are the breath of life inside you, your spirit is your true essence.
So take care of your outward appearance, but don’t neglect the one thing that will last forever about you (and no, it’s not your butt…).
